A distinct lack of perfection.

Perfection isn’t found in the ordering of all things. Nature’s perfection is specifically uncovered through exploration, scanning the scenic views, and then getting closer to each element.

The world, in all its beauty, is chaotic. While an individual flower might be nearly perfect by itself, it’s in a field of buzzing, humming plants, with each plant working hard to survive, but to survive only by itself.

The individual strives for perfection, yet the grand plan can only be seen from afar.

In this way, the farm offers a distinct lack of perfection. Each apple tree is wildly different from the other, each apple’s flavor seeking individual perfection.

The orchard is long straight rows of trees, but each tree’s branches are a wild, fruit-filled scraggle. Apples practically pushing each other out of the way to find a blush in the sun.

The pumpkin patch is a beautiful green with orange flowers and hidden pumpkins peeking out. Up close, it is a tangle of vines running this way and that, spreading wide, spade-shaped leaves hunting for sunlight to swell the gourds.

It is perfect imperfection. It is a beautifully orchestrated, chaos-filled natural landscape with each plant struggling to thrive, and it might be precisely what you need.

Some of the most incredible pictures, moments, and flavors come from this farm’s distinct lack of perfection, but BLINK, and it’s gone.

I realized this week that only six weekends of Fall Harvest remain, and if that produces FOMO in you, imagine the scale of work to be done to harvesting everything in that short amount of time!

Don’t miss it. Each day, each sunrise, each sunset is a perishable moment in time that will never repeat.

Come capture some for yourself.

See you soon, down on the farm,

Your (very imperfect) Farmer Hugh
