Peach Season Hits The Big Time.

Yes! Peaches are here! It’s always a celebration when our signature fruit ripens, and the orchards open to welcome YOU.

Peaches formed the bedrock of Maple Lawn Farms’ transition from the old days of potatoes & string beans. (Yep, my Grandfather, Hugh McPherson, specialized in potatoes.) We used to pack the peaches in boxes and ship them to local supermarkets, but that whole supermarket industry changed, and there’s no place for a small, family farm like ours anymore.

So, we went the other direction. Instead of getting big and commercial, we committed fully to being accessible to families such as yours for pick-your-own.

You’ll drive right to the orchard, visit with Allen to get baskets, then pick right from the trees that ripened the peaches. (You can watch the video above to see me do exactly that, go a little crazy, then enjoy a juicy peach.)

That’s our commitment. We are right-sized to offer our guests peaches direct from the farm without all the middle people bouncing, boxing and bruising the peaches. You pick them RIPENED perfectly from the trees.

A brief fight with my Dad. I’ll be honest, I’ve been trying to raise the price of peaches in the orchard for three years, but Dad is having none of it.

Soooooo, yet again, the peaches are just $18/half a bushel (approx 24lbs of peaches), or only $15 per half a bushel if you pick two or more baskets.

Dad and I get along and generally agree on stuff, though this time, he’s pulled rank 🙂

Hope to see you soon, the trees of LOADED!

Happy peach season kick-off,

Farmer Hugh
