Sunflowers survive the storm!

Tent stakes loosened, trash cans flying, potties tipped over, but no harm to the flowers? Thank you, Lord!

Well, that was a little crazier than usual…

This past Tuesday, we received some National Weather Service warnings around 3 PM, then around 7:20 PM, we found out why.

Dad’s weather data unit collected a 58mph wind gusts reading and a blessedly brief torrential downpour that had us wondering what would be left standing.

When we went out to look around the farm and sunflower field particularly, we found that the giant white tent stakes were leaning, but it held up! (Click to watch the video above)

Wednesday morning, Dad perused the orchard and found plenty of peaches on the trees, BUT the heat has been moving peaches and nectarines at a nearly alarming rate of ripening, soooooooooo

You can pick Yellow Freestone Peaches, White Freestone Peaches, PLUS, Yellow Freestone Nectarines (two kinds!) in ONE TRIP.

The temps will return to a much more tolerable level by this weekend, especially Saturday & Sunday, so don’t miss this stone-fruit extravaganza! It’s been a wild week, but the farm survives and thrives.

Join us for the excitement of the heavy peach season and the beauty of the Sunflower Festival this weekend and next.

See you soon on the farm,

Farmer Hugh

PS Sunflower is only two more weekends; then it’s OVER! Aug 13-15 & Aug 20-22 – then the blooms are gone!
